AL Game 6
Coldwell
Banker Preferred 7
Plush Mills 3
Coldwell Banker improved to 2-0 on
the season after defeating Plush Mills 7-3 on Saturday afternoon. After starting
pitcher Joe Arizin set Plush Mills down 1-2-3 in the first, Coldwell got the
scoring started when Sean Gorman singled and scored on a ground ball RBI by
Jason DiRita.
Arizin was strong again in the second, walking two batters
but leaving both runners stranded. Gorman made a tremendous play at SS to throw
out Elizabeth Salazar at first to end the top half of the second. Coldwell got a
single from Arizin to lead off the bottom of the second but were unable to
score. Avi Patel came in to pitch in the third and set Plush Mills down in
order, 1-2-3. Coldwell added a run when Mike Phillips (walk) stole second and
third and then scored on an Avi Patel RBI single. Plush Mills got on the board
on the top of the fourth when Jacey Fox legged out an infield single and
continued using his wheels to steal second, third, and home. Jack Gill
(fielder's choice) and Anders Kristiansen (walk) both scored in the bottom of
the fourth after being walked in to make it 4-1 Coldwell. Plush Mills closed the
gap when Nicolas Fox (hit by pitch) and Sam Ramsey (walk) scored in the inning.
But Coldwell added some insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth. Patel led
the inning off with a walk. DiRita then laced a single to center. Gill walked.
Then Patel stole home on a passed ball. Arizin crushed a double to right center
to bring two more runs home, making it 7-3 Coldwell. In the top of the 6th, Sean
Gorman came in to close it out. He used an electric fastball to strike out all
three batters he faced and needed just 11 pitches to do it.
