Coldwell Banker used a huge first inning to drop Quotations 19-7 on Sunday
afternoon. Ryan Gauffreau made his pitching debut for Coldwell in the first.
Colin Hefferan singled to start the game and reached second on an error. Logan
Darby grounded out to Gauffreau to advance Hefferan. Hoole grounded out to
Gauffreau as well but picked up an RBI as Colin Heff came around to score. Colin
Eckels singled and stole second, third, and home and it was 2-0 Quotes heading
to the bottom half. But then the Realtors hung a crooked number on the board.
Mike Phillips walked to start things off. Jack Gill singled to the right side.
Sean Gorman then lined a single to left to score Phillips. Joe Arizin walked to
load the bases. Then Matt Halpin (walk), Shawn Welsh (hit by pitch), Tristan
McLean (walk), and Gauffreau (hit by pitch) all got free passes as four more
runs crossed the plate. Theo Jauregui, an NL call-up, had an RBI single.
Phillips drove in 2 with an RBI single. Gill drove in two more with another RBI
single. Gorman doubled to drive in another run. Joe Arizin singled to drive in
another. Halpin doubled to drive in yet another. And Anders Kristiansen hit a
sacrifice grounder to first to score the inning’s final run. It was 13-2
Coldwell after one.
In the second, Shawn Welsh walked to the bump for
the first time this season. He did not allow a hit but Quotes got 2 runs back in
the inning. Gavin Martin and CJ Hasson both walked and stole three bases each.
Kristiansen caught a pop-up at third, Phillips caught one at second, and Welsh
recorded a K for the other out and it was 13-4 Coldwell heading to the bottom of
the second. Big Blue added four more in the inning. Tristan McLean popped one up
with the right side that was not corralled and he reached safely with a single.
After the next two batters were put-out, CB made some 2-out noise. Phillips hit
a hard liner to right to score McLean who had stolen second and third. Gill
walked. Then Gorman tripled to drive in Phillips and Gill. Arizin walked. Halpin
reached on an error and Gorman scored on the play. Coldwell took a 17-4 lead
into the third.
Coldwell threw another first-time pitcher to the hill in
the third in the person of Tristan McLean. Jonathan Hoole reached base on an
error to start things off. He stole second, third, and home. Eckels walked.
Jeffrey Cropper grounded out to Mike Phillips at shortstop as Eckels moved to
second. Ryan Killeen notched an RBI single to drive in XL. Gavin Martin walked.
Then Aiden Reh hit a grounder to third which scored Killeen. But Gill threw to
Halpin at first for the second out and Halpin turned and fired to Kristiansen at
home to nab Martin for the third out. It was 17-7 Coldwell heading to the bottom
half. Big Blue added a couple more. After Shawn Welsh was thrown out at first on
a great play by the Quotes’ third baseman, and Tristan McLean lined out to
shortstop, CB was able to do some more 2-out damage. Gauffreau (walk) and
Jauregui (hit by pitch) both scored. Phillips drove in Gauffreau with an RBI
single. Gill walked. Then Gorman used his fourth hit of the day (single) to
drive in his fifth run and it was 19-7 Coldwell after three.
In the
fourth, Gorman did what Gorman usually does. After walking Hasson, he struck out
the next two batters looking. Colin Heff grounded out to Phillips at shortstop
for the final out as the 10-run rule was invoked and Coldwell Banker walked away
with a 19-7 victory to improve to 11-3 on the season.
